What experience do you have prior to DQE?
I got my foot in the door during my studies, in a Math and Computer Science degree at the University of Paris V with a specialization in algorithms and programming for biology. I immediately got a taste for the technical dimension and the possibility of digging deeper and deeper into the understanding of things, for example in language theory classes.
My final study project was the opportunity to collaborate with the Institut Curie on the optimization of algorithms for detecting carcinogenic patterns in genotypes. This first Big Data work consisted in redeveloping these algorithms to make them scalable on the institute’s cluster. The result was reducing the processing time from 2 weeks to 2 days.
I went on to do a master’s degree at ESGI in the field of Big Data, which allowed me to learn about the technologies of the field, Machine Learning, and cloud platforms. At the same time, I joined DQE in a work-study program, where I discovered technologies that moved in the direction of Big Data for real-time processing of data quality, and in the deduplication core. I was very quickly given some latitude and put to work, notably on the development of the ID Mobile module to ensure the reliability of data collection from mobile subscribers. I joined DQE as a developer following my work-study experience, 6 years ago.
What characterizes the R&D and integration division at DQE?
The R&D and Integration division team that I supervise is responsible for designing and developing the packaging of DQE’s solutions so that they can be deployed to customers and from marketplaces. We also develop external connectors with market tools, such as the first porting of our solution to CRM platforms, our Salesforce connector. It required a great deal of repackaging work on DQE’s products to produce the first version of our dedicated connector. This connector is continuously optimized, and now allows customers to use the entire DQE offer from their Salesforce interface, both in real time and in batch mode to process their Salesforce database directly.
Consulting with customers on technical architecture and project management is another dimension of the R&D and integration mission. We address a variety of customer issues, as Data Quality is a universal subject that can be found in very different business contexts, from multi-brand groups to large single-brand companies, for example. We discuss with architects, business lines, IT departments of major publishers… A particularly stimulating plurality of stakeholders!
What do you appreciate most about the DQE technical team?
The DQE technical team is given the opportunity to work in a very motivating environment, with the desire to always be one step ahead. We benefit from the confidence of our CTO, with the freedom to make proposals that are listened to. The team brings together different generations, which ensures knowledge of proven technologies to meet needs without spreading ourselves too thin, and at the same time, emulation to test new things. We thus have a vast domain of investigation to test new technologies, get hands-on experience with tools, and increase our skills.
Data Quality is a subject that concerns all companies, which allows us to work on a wide variety of cases, with a constant challenge: proposing highly adapted products, without locking each project into specifics.
