Solocal

Solocal, in its repository composed of more than 4.3 million companies, automates continuous data qualification for company data using establishment identifier enrichment by DQE.
Solocal is the digital marketing leader in France, and supports more than 250,000 businesses of all sizes – from very small businesses all the way to the largest groups – across the French market. With its complete range of digital services (including websites, e-commerce solutions, relational campaigns, and online advertising), Solocal is effective and innovative in connecting companies to their clients. The Group also stands out through its proprietary platform, Pages Jaunes, a key player in the French digital market that is uniquely positioned in the public consciousness, and offers its clients visibility that is available nowhere else.

DQE’s establishment identifier enrichment ensures precise identification of establishment-level registration numbers, and helps monitor their status (such as a company moving or going out of business). This approach helps guarantee the reliability of Pages Jaunes content, which gives users confidence in our platform.

Use case
Solocal positions itself as the leading partner for all types of businesses — from microenterprises and SMEs to large corporations, franchise networks, and local authorities — helping them connect with their future customers and users. Solocal offers them innovative digital solutions. Notably, Pages Jaunes is the largest creator of websites in France, and offers its own highly-visible platform to deliver client content. To ensure that its sales coverage offer in France is unique, Solocal also offers multiple channels for client content delivery on leading partner platforms. With its strong market position, Solocal has a data pool that covers over 4.3 million companies in France. This unequaled volume is even more valuable due to the quality of the data it contains.

Multichannel collection of company data combines data flows from the French national statistics institute, client data input, open-data sources, user reports on updates or additional data to integrate into the data pool, as well as data sourcing carried out by Solocal. However, B2B data changes frequently, such as when companies are created, relocate, or go out of business. Florian Bazin, IS Project Manager at Solocal, explained: “The quality of the information in our data pool is essential, since it feeds our prospecting campaigns, and enriches our Pages Jaunes platform. We have to have clean data, particularly the correct establishment-level registration number for each company, which involves daily searches for the right data. We are continuously striving to have data that is correct.”

In order to maintain the quality of its database, Solocal carried out a once- or twice-yearly sweep to optimize and update its data across the entire data pool. “This process took up too much time. And the results were far from perfect: certain establishment-level registration numbers remained unavailable, or errors were not recorded. In order to improve the identification of companies and the quality of our data pool, we had to step up a notch in linking records to establishment identifier enrichment,” reported Florian Bazin.
In 2023 Solocal decided to adopt a solution capable of automating and improving the reliability of establishment identifier enrichment, in light of the millions of companies in its data repository.

The solution, initially provided by Capency, was later offered by DQE, and implemented following successful POC testing. It proved capable of reliably updating establishment-level registration numbers (SIRETs), even in complex cases – such as companies with previously untraceable SIRETs, others whose legal status had recently changed, or companies whose company registration number (SIREN) was linked to multiple establishments (SIRETs). Florian Bazin added, “We were very satisfied with the proactive sales team, who were very present, as well as being able to easily implement the POC.”

Now, Solocal has switched its establishment identifier enrichment solution into full API mode, and continuously qualifies its data pool of more than 4.3 million companies using powerful automation.
Higher quality data pool

The solution processes several hundred thousand queries on B2B data in daily or weekly flows. “Today it takes DQE less than an hour to qualify several hundred thousand B2B data elements. That is almost in real time,” said Florian Bazin. His team no longer has to carry out difficult qualification procedures for the entire data pool.

With establishment-level registration numbers that are better qualified and more reliable, it is easier to interact with the database to maintain its level of quality, specifically linking the correct establishment-level registration number with the right company, or reporting when a company has gone out of business. “DQE helps us continually maintain the quality of the Solocal data pool, on smaller and more frequent data flows. This is crucial, so that we can maintain and improve the quality of our data pool, working as closely as we can to the events that impact the data used by companies.”

Optimization of the Pages Jaunes platform and sales prospection

The Solocal repository is a source of prospects for the group. With better qualified data, the data pool supports more precise and agile actions on a daily basis. “We can target specific segments before a sales campaign and take precise, agile actions to improve the quality of our data pool,” said Florian Bazin. Another plus: having a correct establishment-level registration number for invoicing clients that Solocal supports with digital solutions.

“DQE’s establishment identifier enrichment ensures precise identification of establishment-level registration numbers, and helps monitor their status (such as a company moving or going out of business). This approach helps guarantee the reliability of Pages Jaunes content, which gives users confidence in our platform,” added Florian Bazin.

Adaptive data quality

To reinforce the quality of its data pool, Solocal is studying other data quality applications, including qualifying email addresses and telephone numbers. Combining the capacities of AI and data quality also presents substantial potential for making data for companies more reliable.

“Since the beginning of our data quality project, we could always count on the expertise and reliability of the teams,” said Florian Bazin. “With their rapid and precise responses, we avoided delays in terms of development. This is an advantage, significantly improving data quality.”
