CSR: DQE is developing a carbon calculator project for its customers
DQE’s carbon calculator will enable users to measure the CO2 savings obtained by processing their customer database with the DQE One data quality management solution.

Today, the digital sector accounts for 3 to 4% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions worldwide, and 2.5% of the French national carbon footprint*.
Servers all over the world contribute to CO2 emissions, notably through their power consumption in datacenters (via operations and air conditioning). Email exchanges, estimated at between 10 and 12 billion per hour worldwide**, account for a significant proportion of the digital industry’s carbon footprint.
Taking action, measuring, optimizing: DQE commits to digital sobriety
The DQE One solution, developed by DQE, helps to reduce the carbon footprint of corporate customer data usage.
Explanation: DQE One deduplicates customer contact databases and removes bad data. This helps to eliminate any data or emails that are unusable, incorrect, or obsolete, including elements that are simply duplicates. For databases that contain several million records, hundreds of thousands of unnecessary emails and mailings are avoided. The gains are considerable when mailings successfully reach their destination.
Sending an email has a real and measurable carbon impact. The vast majority of users are unaware of this, and unfortunately don’t measure its impact, especially when the emails are sent repeatedly using a database with erroneous data. In addition to raising awareness in this area, the goal is offering a CO2 calculator to companies that enables them to measure the reduction in CO2 emissions brought about by using a customer database that is of higher quality and that is more reliable.
The objective of DQE’s CO2 calculator is twofold: raising companies’ awareness of the environmental issues linked to the use of digital technology, and helping them to reduce the CO2 emissions generated by the use of their customer databases.
Is fully in line with DQE’s environmental commitment already recognized through the Ecovadis Gold label, our membership of the BPI’s Green Roster community and, more recently, the Bas-carbone (Low Carbon) label.
